Seoul's Eunpyeong-gu will provide personalized herbal medicine to 40 low-income seniors through its district health center, using funds from the Hometown Love donation program. The initiative runs through Oct. 30 and targets elderly residents who may be neglecting their health due to financial hardship.
The project is being carried out in partnership with the Eunpyeong-gu Korean Medicine Association, whose member clinics will identify eligible seniors directly. Those selected will receive individual consultations and traditional medicine health counseling, after which practitioners will prescribe customized herbal remedies — including decoctions and pill-form medicines — suited to each person's condition and circumstances.
The Hometown Love donations funding the project come from contributors who support Eunpyeong-gu. The district said the money will be used to help seniors whose vitality has declined due to financial stress and lack of sleep, with the aim of restoring their health and improving their welfare.
"This project provides customized Korean medicine services to seniors who are prone to neglecting their health because of financial difficulties," District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung said. "We will offer careful support so that the warm intentions behind the Hometown Love donations can translate into healthier daily lives for our seniors."
