Expansion of employee-driven corporate social responsibility activities
Lotte Home Shopping announced Thursday that it has introduced a corporate social responsibility program called "TEAM Sharing Lunch," in which employees combine volunteer work with a meal during their lunch break.
The program was designed to lower the barrier to volunteer participation and foster communication among colleagues through team-based activities. Employee interest was strong, with sign-ups for the first participating team closing ahead of schedule.
The inaugural session was held Wednesday at Huimang Suragan, a community kitchen inside the Yeongdeungpo-gu Office annex in Seoul. Nine employees from the IT department took part, making 200 glutinous rice cakes using chestnuts, a specialty of Gongju. The rice cakes were delivered to 100 elderly residents living alone in Yeongdeungpo-gu.
Going forward, the program will run twice a month, with participants preparing seasonal snacks and banchan to be distributed to neighbors in need within the district.
Lotte Home Shopping carries out a range of social contribution activities under its ESG slogan "Today's actions change tomorrow." Through Huimang Suragan, its banchan-sharing initiative, the company has provided more than 77,000 banchan dishes to the community since 2015.
"We will build a culture of corporate social responsibility in which everyday sharing comes naturally, driven by the active participation of our employees," said Lee Dong-gyu, head of Lotte Home Shopping's communications division.
