Korea Investment & Securities announced Friday it has signed a GPU financing memorandum of understanding with neo-cloud company Vessl AI.

Under the agreement, the two companies will cooperate to build and expand GPU infrastructure. Korea Investment & Securities will handle financing, while Vessl AI will support overall project execution by drawing on its experience operating a GPU cloud platform.

GPU infrastructure requires large upfront investment, making a stable funding base a critical factor in a project's success. Korea Investment & Securities offers a range of financial solutions — including legal and accounting reviews, private equity fund structuring and fundraising strategies — and has been expanding its market presence through partnerships with numerous companies and investment institutions.

"GPU-centered AI computing infrastructure is emerging as a key new investment area in global financial markets," said Bang Chang-jin, head of the PF group at Korea Investment & Securities. "We will explore various avenues for cooperation through this agreement and actively contribute to the growth of the domestic AI infrastructure industry."

Meanwhile, Japan Credit Rating Agency (JCR) recently upgraded Korea Investment & Securities' foreign-currency long-term issuer rating one notch, from A- to A. The outlook was revised from Positive to Stable. JCR also raised its bond rating one notch, from A- to A.

JCR cited the firm's solid profitability, diversified business portfolio, and strong capital adequacy and liquidity as the main reasons for the upgrade. Korea Investment & Securities said it aims to strengthen its credibility in global financial markets and enhance its overseas competitiveness on the back of a stable funding base.
