Jeonju office to serve as hub for ongoing communication with NPS fund management
Also to support customers in Chungcheong and Honam regions
Mirae Asset Global Investments announced Friday that it has opened an office in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, to strengthen cooperation with the National Pension Service.
The opening ceremony was attended by Co-CEOs Lee Jun-yong and Choi Chang-hoon, Head of Equity Management Koo Yong-deok and Head of Investment Solutions Kwon Oh-sung, as well as National Pension Service Chairman Kim Sung-joo, North Jeolla Province Deputy Governor for Economy Ko Jeong-sam and Jeonju City Director of Economic Industry Kim Eun-joo.
Mirae Asset Global Investments plans to use the Jeonju office as a base for ongoing communication with the National Pension Service and to establish a regular in-person consultation framework. When issues arise — such as data requests from the pension fund or sudden shifts in financial markets — the office will coordinate with the Seoul headquarters' asset-class management teams and risk management division to respond swiftly.
The company also plans to expand in-person consultations in which portfolio managers covering domestic and overseas equities, bonds and alternative investments will brief the pension fund on investment strategies, market trends and risk management issues. It intends to station permanent staff at the office to bolster on-site response capabilities.
The office will also serve customers in the Chungcheong and Honam regions. It will support business consultations and customer management related to the pension fund investment pool for regional pension funds and public institutions, and will handle marketing and customer management for corporate, individual and pension clients in the area.
"The opening of the Jeonju office has laid the groundwork for continuing our 26-year partnership with the National Pension Service even more closely on the ground," a Mirae Asset Global Investments official said. "We will draw on our asset-class management capabilities to deliver timely investment solutions that align with the pension fund's management direction and needs."
Mirae Asset Global Investments has managed domestic and overseas equities, bonds, alternative investments and other assets entrusted by the National Pension Service since 2001, marking 26 years of partnership this year. The firm ranked first in last year's Ministry of Planning and Budget pension fund investment pool lead manager reselection evaluation, and topped the rankings again this year in the evaluation for selection as the dedicated manager of the Housing and Urban Fund.
