Daegu-North Gyeongsang Free Economic Zone Authority inaugurates 7th commissioner

Jung Hae-yong was inaugurated Friday as the seventh commissioner of the Daegu-North Gyeongsang Free Economic Zone Authority, formally beginning his tenure.

The ceremony, held that afternoon in the main conference room of the authority's headquarters, drew about 130 attendees, including Heo Bok, a North Gyeongsang Province lawmaker who chairs the authority's joint council, along with representatives of tenant companies, business leaders and officials from related organizations.

Since his appointment on Sept. 7, Jung had focused on getting up to speed on key issues by visiting companies in the field and receiving briefings on major operations.

The inauguration was organized as an extension of that outreach, bringing together heads of major institutions and business figures to signal the authority's commitment to a new phase of growth.

"I will listen to voices from the field so that the Daegu-North Gyeongsang Free Economic Zone can establish itself as a core hub generating future growth engines for the region," Jung said. "I will do my utmost to strengthen industry-academia-research-government cooperation and translate that into tangible investment results and regional economic development."

He said the authority would also strive to become a leading hub driving broad metropolitan growth in the Daegu-North Gyeongsang region in line with the government's "five poles, three specials" national balanced-growth strategy.
