Nowon-gu District Mayor Seo Jun-o attended the opening ceremony of "2026 Nowon Moonlight Walk: A New Moon" on Friday afternoon along the Danghyeoncheon stream.
The Nowon Moonlight Walk is the district's signature autumn festival, illuminating a 1.3-kilometer stretch of the Danghyeoncheon — from Junggye Station and Danghyeon Bridge No. 1 to Yangji Bridge — with light installations and art. This year marks the festival's seventh edition.
This year's exhibition is themed "A New Moon" and is organized around three messages: a prayer for all living things, a wish for peace and coexistence, and a wish for a better world.
The opening ceremony proceeded with a laser media performance, introductions of participating artists, welcome remarks from guests of honor, a celebratory performance, a lighting ceremony, and a commemorative photo session and exhibition walkthrough. About 1,000 people attended, including the district mayor, National Assembly members, Seoul city and district council members, participating artists, and local residents.
"The Nowon Moonlight Walk has established itself as an open art festival where citizens walk, feel and connect with one another — going beyond a simple nighttime exhibition of artworks," Seo said. "I hope everyone will experience a special autumn evening under this year's 'New Moon,' where each person's wish for life, peace and coexistence comes together as a single light."
