About one month of quarantine starting Nov. 13
Limited public viewing to continue during quarantine
Last public appearance set for Dec. 11
Farewell program also planned
Everland, operated by Samsung C&T's resort division, announced Monday that its twin pandas will begin formal quarantine procedures on Nov. 13 for about one month before their move to China at year's end.
Unlike the quarantine process for Fu Bao, the twins will remain available for limited public viewing during the period. Fu Bao underwent quarantine out of public view, but the Panda Second House built last year features a fully enclosed, independent indoor habitat that meets quarantine standards while remaining accessible.
Pandas born outside China must return before they turn four, when they reach breeding age. Rui Bao and Hui Bao, born in July 2023, were previously announced to be heading to China in the third week of December this year.
The twins' last public appearance is scheduled for Dec. 11, though the detailed schedule may change depending on conditions at the facility. The exact date and destination of the transfer will be finalized after a comprehensive review of factors including temperature and local conditions.
"We plan to carefully monitor the twins' health and quarantine and transfer preparations, and coordinate viewing hours, formats and schedules accordingly," an Everland official said.
Meanwhile, Everland will hold a farewell program ahead of the twins' departure. Events next month will include a panda zookeeper talk concert, along with online contests for photos and short-form videos featuring the twin pandas.
