Company targets growth into comprehensive AI data center solution fabless firm
Fadu, a data center semiconductor company, announced Monday that it posted consolidated sales of 143.6 billion won ($107 million) and operating profit of 36.3 billion won in the third quarter.
The results represent increases of 96 percent and 124 percent, respectively, from second-quarter sales of 73.2 billion won and operating profit of 16.2 billion won — figures that had themselves set a record as the company's best quarterly performance since its founding. Fadu surpassed that record almost immediately.
Buoyed by a sustained boom this year, cumulative results through the third quarter also grew sharply from a year earlier. Sales through the third quarter reached 276.3 billion won, up 303 percent from 68.5 billion won in the same period last year. Operating profit came in at 60.2 billion won, swinging to a profit from a loss of 36.9 billion won in the year-earlier period.
Fadu is particularly focused on a new-order pipeline approaching 460 billion won. Leveraging technology and products optimized for the rapidly expanding AI data center environments of global big-tech and hyperscaler companies, the company has recorded approximately 456.3 billion won in disclosed orders so far this year — well over four times its full-year sales of 92.4 billion won last year.
To meet surging demand for AI data center storage, Fadu is pressing ahead with technological innovation and research and development. The company has completed development of its next-generation Gen6 controller, which offers improved performance over the Gen5 controller it currently supplies to multiple global big-tech firms, with full commercial sales set to begin by year-end. It is also developing a Gen7 controller, targeting customer sampling in 2028.
Building on its globally recognized, differentiated SSD controller technology, Fadu is expanding beyond its existing power solutions — centered on power management integrated circuits and power loss protection ICs — into signal restoration and high-speed signal solutions, areas of growing importance in AI server environments. The company's strategy is to establish itself as a comprehensive AI data center solution fabless firm through this expansion.
"The technology we have quietly built up over more than a decade since our founding is now bearing fruit in the form of explosive earnings growth this year," Chief Executive Nam Yi-hyun said. "We will continue to advance as a comprehensive AI data center solution fabless company, providing a wide range of low-power, high-efficiency solutions for AI data centers."
