Seoul's Gangseo-gu dispatched a medical tourism market development delegation to Mongolia to attract foreign patients and break into new markets, the district announced Tuesday.

The delegation included nine medical and support institutions affiliated with the Gangseo Miracle Medi Special Zone Council — among them the Gangseo-gu Public Health Center, Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital (serious illness), Wooridul Hospital (spine), SNU Seoul Hospital (joints), MizMedi Hospital (women's health), Magok Cha Women's Clinic (infertility), Abijou Clinic (dermatology) and Yonsei Hill Dental Hospital (dentistry).

Over four days from Oct. 26 to Oct. 29, the delegation recorded 156 consultations, signed five MOUs, advanced eight contract negotiations and confirmed two patient referrals.

On the first day, Oct. 26, the group visited Mongolia Modern Hospital to tour its facilities, assess the local medical environment and explore ways to apply Korean medical technology there.

The following morning, Oct. 27, the delegation visited Say Korea LLC, a local medical tourism agency, to discuss closer cooperation.

The highlight of the trip was a medical tourism consultation fair held the afternoon of Oct. 27. The event drew 46 local businesses and patients, with each participating institution averaging more than 20 consultations. Five MOUs were signed at the event.

Magok Cha Women's Clinic held individual consultations on infertility treatment, while Abijou Clinic confirmed on-site referral bookings for two local patients. SNU Seoul Hospital also advanced seven additional contract agreements. On the final day, Oct. 28, the delegation visited Mongolia's Second Hospital, a major regional medical facility, to review the state of local healthcare services.

District Mayor Jin Kyo-hoon said the mission had demonstrated firsthand the competitiveness of the Gangseo Miracle Medi Special Zone in Mongolia, an emerging medical tourism market. "We will continue to work closely with local medical institutions to expand our overseas network and spare no effort in supporting the attraction of foreign patients," Jin said.
