World No. 1 Nelly Korda of the United States has clinched the LPGA Tour Player of the Year award.
The LPGA Tour officially announced Wednesday (Korean Standard Time) that Korda had been named Player of the Year. She won four times this season, including back-to-back victories at the Chevron Championship and the US Women's Open, and has held the world No. 1 ranking throughout the year. It is the second time Korda has received the honor, following her 2024 award.
The LPGA Tour Player of the Year is determined by a points system based on tournament results, with the award going to the player who accumulates the most points. Korda leads with 239 points, followed by Ryu Hae-ran in second with 176 points, Yamashita Miyu of Japan in third with 156 points, and Jeeno Thitikul of Thailand in fourth with 155 points.
Ryu missed a chance to close the gap after withdrawing from last week's Maybank Championship due to injury. The other contenders, Yamashita and Jeeno, have decided not to compete in The Annika tournament next week. As a result, Korda's Player of the Year title is now mathematically secured regardless of results in the remaining three events.
With the Player of the Year award, Korda has accumulated 26 points toward the 27 needed for induction into the LPGA Tour Hall of Fame — one point short of the threshold. If she wins even once in the two remaining tournaments this year, she will be inducted into the LPGA Tour Hall of Fame at age 28.
