Shinsegae department store to launch Christmas media facade display at flagship Seoul store

Shinsegae department store will launch a Christmas video display on "Shinsegae Square," the media facade on the exterior wall of its flagship store in Jung-gu, Seoul, starting Friday at 5 p.m. The display will run daily from 5 p.m. to midnight through Jan. 31 next year.

The display carries the theme "A Fantastical Journey to Deliver Christmas Wishes," following a bear who guards a post office as it loads letters filled with wishes, travels to an ice castle and completes a Christmas tree.

The production uses 3D anamorphic techniques to create a sense of depth and presence, making the bear appear to leap out of the screen. A scene of crashing waves surging against a transparent glass wall is also rendered. The soundtrack layers carol melodies over the fourth movement of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, "Choral," performed by a 60-piece orchestra from the Vienna Synchron Stage, recorded on location in Vienna, Austria.
