Individual customers can earn up to 3.85% annually on a 9-month term
Gwangju Bank announced Thursday it will hold an "8-Year Together Deurim Deposit Special Event" to mark its 58th anniversary and thank customers for their continued support.
The promotion follows a preferential interest rate event held in September and offers special bonus rates on the bank's Deurim deposit product.
Running through Dec. 31, the event carries a total cap of 500 billion won ($373 million) and will close early if the limit is reached before that date.
Eligible participants include individual and corporate customers opening accounts under their real names, with a minimum deposit of 10 million won per account and a maximum of 2 billion won per customer. However, customers who made an early withdrawal from a Gwangju Bank fixed-term deposit within the past month — including the date of the new account opening — are not eligible. Government bodies, local authorities and financial institutions are also excluded.
Customers may choose a term of three, six, nine or 12 months, with preferential rates varying by customer type and term length. For a nine-month term, individual customers receive a base rate of 1.90 percent per annum plus an event bonus of 1.95 percentage points, for a maximum annual rate of 3.85 percent. Corporate customers on the same term receive the same base rate with a 1.85-percentage-point bonus, for a maximum of 3.75 percent per annum.
