Lotte Wellfood announced Thursday it has opened its 14th Happy Home location at the Bucheon Women and Youth Center in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province.
The Happy Home program is a social contribution initiative that uses a portion of Pepero sales proceeds to build new community children's centers or renovate aging ones. Lotte Wellfood launched the program in 2013 with its first location in Wanju-gun, North Jeolla Province, and has continued it every year since. The program has benefited more than 2,700 children to date.
The 14th location carries the name "Bucheon Rainbow Pepero Playground." The Bucheon Women and Youth Center, which opened in 2005, had been in need of renovation due to aging facilities and a lack of cultural amenities. Lotte Wellfood refurbished the youth cultural space on the center's fourth floor, transforming it into an area where young people can enjoy cultural activities and leisure.
The approximately 316-square-meter space features "Punit," a zone for physical activity and play; "Dance Together," a dedicated dance studio; and "Music Together," a room for playing instruments and other musical activities. A lounge where young visitors can socialize and relax was also added.
"We will continue to give back to society the love we have received through Pepero, and to carry out social contribution activities that support the healthy and happy growth of the next generation," said Seo Jeong-ho, chief executive of Lotte Wellfood.
