Agents target compliance, credit review and product recommendations
NH NongHyup Bank is moving quickly to develop AI agents for banking operations with AgileSoDA, an AI specialist the bank acquired in July. Within about a month of starting development, the two have produced 10 prototypes covering major functions including compliance, product recommendations and credit review.
The bank announced Thursday that it and AgileSoDA had jointly built the "10 flagship AI agent prototypes."
The AI agents are designed to support a range of core banking functions — from compliance tasks such as financial fraud prevention and anti-money laundering, to customer product recommendations, card payments, credit review and overseas remittances.
Development of the prototypes began in early September. The bank said it completed the initial models within about a month by combining AgileSoDA's understanding of the financial industry with its AI technology. The collaboration also incorporated a process that quickly translated ideas from frontline staff into the development pipeline.
To assess how the AI agents could be used in practice, the bank is holding a demonstration event for employees from Wednesday through Friday at the AX My Room space inside NH NongHyup Tower in Seoul.
Employees from NongHyup Financial Group affiliates, not just the bank itself, are taking part — testing each AI agent firsthand and exploring how it could be applied to their work. AgileSoDA specialists are on site throughout the demonstration period, providing tailored consulting on requirements analysis and system design for potential adoption.
The bank plans to use feedback gathered during the demonstrations to broaden the scope of the AI agents and refine application models for specific tasks. It also intends to expand the environment so that employees across all NongHyup affiliates can eventually use AI agents suited to their own work.
"Since the acquisition of AgileSoDA, our employees' access to and understanding of AI technology has been growing, and their confidence in using new technology to transform how they work is rising rapidly," a bank official said. "Going forward, we will support all NongHyup employees in directly using AI agents optimized for their individual roles, realizing AI transformation across the entire way we work."
Meanwhile, the bank recently held an employee-driven AI web service competition called the AX Build-up Challenge, showcasing 17 web services built with generative AI. Entries deemed to have strong practical potential are set to be integrated into the NH All One Bank app before the end of the year.
