Daegu Catholic University's College of Music and Performing Arts will hold a concert titled "Ullim" to mark the school's 112th anniversary at 5 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Suseong Artpia Grand Theater.
The performance will bring together current students, alumni active in Korea and abroad, and faculty members to showcase the university's musical talent.
The first half opens with students Kim Ye-neung on violin, Lee Seo-gyeong on cello and Woo Hae-rin on piano performing Arensky's Piano Trio.
An alumni piano duo, faculty vocal solos and an ensemble by Hyoeum Vocal Society — a group of alumni singers — will follow.
The second half features the university orchestra and choir under the baton of Massimo Scapin, a conductor based in the United States.
The program opens with Sibelius's "Finlandia," followed by a concerto featuring alumni marimbist Park Byeong-jun and a polka by Strauss.
The concert closes with the fourth movement of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, "Ode to Joy," performed by the orchestra and choir together. The closing piece reflects the concert's theme — "Ullim," meaning generations united through music.
Admission is free, with tickets distributed at the venue on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the concert. No advance reservation is required. For more information, contact the College of Music and Performing Arts at Daegu Catholic University.
