BNK Busan Bank launches savings account to cheer on BNK Sum basketball team

BNK Busan Bank on Friday launched a new savings product — the BNK Sum Basketball Team Championship Savings Account — to rally behind the BNK Sum women's professional basketball team and share in the excitement with fans.

The product rewards fan engagement, offering bonus interest rates based on activities such as attending games and cheering on players. It carries a base annual rate of 1.70%, with event and transaction-based preferential rates bringing the maximum to 4.9% per year.

The event-based bonuses include up to 1.50 percentage points for attending BNK Sum regular-season games, and up to 0.20 percentage points for participating in a "cheer heart" feature for a favorite player through the bank's mobile banking app. Alongside this, customers can earn up to an additional 1.50 percentage points in preferential rates based on transaction activity, such as opening a new fixed-term deposit.

The account is open to individuals aged 14 and older, with one account per person, and can be opened at BNK Busan Bank branches or through mobile banking. The term is six months, with monthly deposits ranging freely from 10,000 won ($7) to 300,000 won. The product is available through Dec. 31, though it may close early once the 2,000-account limit is reached.
