A young couple in Japan has been arrested after the wife secretly filmed women at a female bathing facility and the husband sold the footage online, police said.
According to local media including Kyodo News and Kansai TV, Kyoto Prefectural Police arrested Nakatake Daichi, 35, and his wife Misato, 24, residents of Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, on Thursday on charges of violating the law punishing the filming of sexual images without consent.
The couple is accused of filming women undressing and bathing at a bathing facility in Ishikawa Prefecture without their consent between May and July, then selling the footage through social media.
Investigators found that the husband directed the filming while the wife entered the women's bathing area herself to capture the footage.
Misato concealed a small camera inside a bag or bathing basket while using the facility, covering the device so it was not visible from the outside and filming other women through a small gap. She then passed the footage to her husband, who uploaded and sold it on social media.
Police believe the couple sold clips of about five minutes each for 2,000 yen ($13) per video.
The couple reportedly told investigators they had filmed illegally on about 100 occasions, generating sales of more than 5 million yen (more than 43 million won).
Police are focusing their investigation on uncovering additional offenses by the couple through smartphone forensic analysis and other means.
