Exhibition runs Nov. 24–Dec. 11 at Sinsa House in Seoul
Show features records and works documenting the design process
Company says event aims to 'offer a special experience of inspiration and possibility through design'
Hyundai Motor and Kia announced Sunday they will hold a design archive exhibition titled "The Unceasing Dream," tracing the creative journey of Luc Donckerwolke, the companies' Chief Creative Officer and Chief Design Officer and one of the world's leading automotive designers.
The exhibition was conceived to share with the public how the dreams and inspirations a designer nurtures over a lifetime take shape through design. The companies said the show is intended to convey that inspiration rooted in one person's creative journey can spark new dreams and possibilities in each visitor.
The exhibition runs Nov. 24 through Dec. 11 at Sinsa House in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and admission is free. It is designed to be accessible to a broad audience — from students in related fields and design enthusiasts to children and general visitors.
The venue will present a reconstruction of Donckerwolke's records and design work spanning from his childhood to the present.
Unlike exhibitions that convey purely abstract concepts, this one showcases the concrete records and works behind actual design processes, making it easy for visitors with little background in automotive design to understand and engage with the material.
"This exhibition goes beyond introducing a single designer — it is a space that shows how dreams and imagination lead to new possibilities," a Hyundai Motor and Kia official said. "We hope it will offer a meaningful moment of inspiration not only for those who love design and cars, but for everyone nurturing their own dreams."
Donckerwolke has been with Hyundai Motor and Kia for more than a decade, beginning as head of design for Hyundai Motor and Genesis in 2016 and driving design innovation at the group ever since.
His leadership and influence in global automotive design have earned him wide recognition — he was named Person of the Year at the World Car Awards in 2022 and Innovation Designer of the Year among Newsweek's "Great Disruptors of the Global Auto Industry" in 2023.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor will also present "Hyundai Translocal Series: Following the Ripples of the Sky" — the third installment of its Hyundai Translocal Series — at the Nam June Paik Art Center through March 28, 2027, and at the Pinacoteca de São Paulo in Brazil from Nov. 28 through April 18, 2027.
