The 2026 Gwangju Street Culture Festa, a street dance festival, will run Thursday through Sunday at the Asia Culture Center in Gwangju, drawing more than 1,300 top-tier dancers from South Korea and abroad.
"Battle Line Up," a street dance competition brand that Gwangju youth dancers launched independently and grew into one of South Korea's most recognized in the genre, sold out within two minutes of registration opening.
Elite dancers from around the world will compete in one-on-one battles across five genres: hip-hop, waacking, popping, locking and open style.
A Kids & Youth Battle open to children and teenagers will also be held.
A newly added K-pop dance competition, reflecting the global K-Culture wave, will heat up the stage.
Thirty-seven dance crews — divided into a youth division and an open division — will compete in group battles pushing the limits of their craft.
Prominent dancers including Lehey, Jinwoo, Love Ran, Danzel and Akanen will serve as judges and perform at the event.
Judging will be handled by world-class street dancers including France's Just Debout crew, with veteran MC Durak hosting. The venue will also feature experience booths celebrating street culture and promotional booths showcasing the city of Gwangju.
