Korea Racing Authority judo team volunteers skills for young athletes

The Korea Racing Authority judo team has launched a skills-donation program aimed at developing the next generation of judo talent and promoting sports in local communities.

The KRA announced Sunday that the judo team, led by director Kim Jae-bum, visited Dogae Middle and High School in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, on June 1 to hold a volunteer coaching session for young athletes.

The session covered fundamental techniques and throwing skills applicable in competition, one-point lessons targeting ground-hold form and sparring posture correction, and one-on-one personalized technical guidance pairing KRA athletes with each young participant.

Coaches and athletes served as instructors, passing on the hands-on experience and techniques of national team-level competitors. Student participants trained alongside top-tier athletes and received direct technical feedback.

"We were able to spend a meaningful time sweating together with the young athletes who will lead the future of judo, right there in their training space," Kim said. "I hope this opportunity helped them grow."

The KRA said it plans to hold additional skills-donation programs involving its athletes in the second half of the year as part of its ongoing efforts to nurture young sporting talent and contribute to local communities.
