Yeongcheon, a city in North Gyeongsang Province, announced Monday it received an excellence award at the 2026 Agricultural Food Exports Policy Outstanding City and County Evaluation Ceremony, recognizing its contributions to boosting agri-food exports and opening new overseas markets.
North Gyeongsang Province organizes the evaluation to encourage agri-food export expansion and recognize outstanding policy efforts among local governments.
Yeongcheon recorded $17.88 million in agri-food exports last year, shipping local products to 51 countries including Japan, the United States, Taiwan and Vietnam.
The city drew particular praise for expanding fresh produce exports centered on Shine Muscat grapes and actively diversifying overseas markets for processed agri-food products.
"We will continue to strengthen support for improving the quality competitiveness of Yeongcheon's agricultural products, opening new overseas markets and expanding exports, with the goal of establishing ourselves as a global agri-food export city," a city official said.
