Ulsan city will hold a "Traditional Market Onnuri Gift Voucher Cashback Event" from June 10 to 14 under the auspices of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, aimed at easing household financial burdens and boosting foot traffic at traditional markets.
Consumers who purchase domestically caught or deep-sea seafood during the five-day event will receive up to 30 percent of their purchase amount back in Onnuri gift vouchers, capped at 20,000 won (about $13) per person.
A total of nine traditional markets are taking part: in Jung-gu, Guyeokjeon Market and Sincentral Market (combined), Taehwa General Market and Ujeong Traditional Market (combined), Hakseong Dawn Market, and Bangu Market; in Nam-gu, Sinjeong Arcade Market and Sinjeong Market Co. (combined), the seafood retail hall at the Agricultural and Marine Products Wholesale Market, and Suam Hoe Seafood Market; in Dong-gu, Daewangam Wolbong Market; and in Ulju-gun, Eonyang Alps Market.
The cashback tiers are 10,000 won for purchases of 34,000 won or more and 20,000 won for purchases of 67,000 won or more, paid out in Onnuri gift vouchers. The event will end early if the voucher supply runs out.
To claim cashback, shoppers must visit the designated booth at each market on the day of purchase, bringing their receipt along with an ID or mobile phone for identity verification.
"We hope people will take this opportunity to buy fresh domestic seafood and enjoy the Onnuri gift voucher cashback benefits," a city official said.
