A circuit breaker was triggered on the Kosdaq market Monday.
Korea Exchange announced it would halt all Kosdaq trading for 20 minutes beginning at 2:36:52 p.m.
The halt came after the Kosdaq fell more than 8 percent below its previous closing level for at least one continuous minute, meeting the threshold required to activate the mechanism.
Trading in all stocks listed on the Kosdaq was immediately suspended, along with futures and options markets tied to equities.
It was the second circuit breaker on the Kosdaq this year and the 12th in the market's history.
As of 2:45 p.m. Monday, the Kosdaq stood at 921.88, down 8.04 percent from the previous session.
