Recognition follows achievements in contract farming, quality management and school meal supply
"Daesup Malgeun Damyang Rice," the flagship brand rice of Damyang-gun, took the grand prize at the 2026 South Jeolla Province Top 10 High-Quality Brand Rice evaluation.
South Jeolla Province conducted the evaluation by comprehensively assessing the quality competitiveness and production and retail systems of outstanding brand rice from across the province.
Damyang-gun earned high marks for expanding contract farming through ongoing communication with farmers and for building a well-organized farming network and quality management system.
The county has strengthened its brand competitiveness by operating a systematic management system covering production, retail and after-sales care.
"Daesup Malgeun Damyang Rice" runs a same-day milling and shipping system, processing harvested rice and dispatching it on the same day. The brand also operates a customer recall program for rapid response to complaints, bolstering consumer confidence in its quality.
Damyang-gun operates an integrated rice processing complex (RPC) in Bongsan-myeon equipped with state-of-the-art milling and storage facilities, forming the foundation for high-quality rice production.
About 1,100 tons of rice are supplied annually to schools across the country — including in Seoul and Jeju — for eco-friendly school meal programs. The rice is also exported to markets including France and the United Kingdom, raising the profile of Damyang rice internationally.
