Seoul's Geumcheon-gu has created a 4,000-square-meter canola flower field along the "Rural Theme Scenery Trail" near Cheolsan Bridge on Anyang Stream, the district said.
The district sowed canola seeds last spring. Yellow canola flowers are now in full bloom along the Anyang Stream walking path.
The flower field can be reached by walking about 500 meters from Exit 8 of Gasan Digital Complex Station, crossing the pedestrian overpass, and then heading south along Anyang Stream for roughly 400 meters. The blooms are expected to remain on display through the end of June.
Following the canola planting, the district plans to sow green barley and cosmos in the fall to offer distinctive seasonal scenery, with the long-term goal of developing Anyang Stream into a year-round ecological retreat filled with flowers and greenery.
"I hope the many residents who visit Anyang Stream find comfort from the fatigue of daily life and create warm memories among the blooming canola flowers," district mayor Yoo Sung-hoon said. "We will continue to cultivate Anyang Stream into an attractive ecological healing space brimming with flowers and greenery throughout all four seasons."
The district established the Rural Theme Scenery Trail along an approximately 11,500-square-meter stretch of the Anyang Stream embankment between Cheolsan Bridge and Geumcheon Bridge in 2021 as part of an effort to develop the stream into a landmark destination. The district is also pursuing a range of green infrastructure projects — including the Hannae Rose Garden, the theme scenery trail, a park golf course and an ecological learning center — to make Anyang Stream a healing destination accessible to all.
