Gwangju Metropolitan City will host "Hi, Pureut Market," a citizen-participation social economy market blending nature and social values, at the Gwangju Municipal Arboretum in Yangwa-dong, Nam-gu, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
The city is organizing the event alongside co-hosts the Gwangju Social Economy Support Center, the Gwangju Social Economy Federation and the Gwangju Metropolitan Self-Sufficiency Center. It is designed to let residents enjoy the arboretum's natural setting while experiencing social economy values and eco-friendly consumer culture.
Since its debut in 2024, "Hi, Pureut Market" has been held twice a year, with participation and visitor numbers growing consistently. The market has established itself as a platform connecting the local community with social economy enterprises.
"This market is a place where citizens participate not merely as consumers but as agents who put social values into practice," said Lim Byeong-du, Gwangju's director of labor and employment policy. "We will continue to create spaces for mutual growth where people can experience social economy values close to their everyday lives."
