Democratic Party's Jeong Min-cheol calls on Seoul Mayor Oh to take stance on by-election demands

Jeong Min-cheol, vice chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea's policy committee, said Monday that Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon must publicly state his position on calls for a by-election, warning that "there would have been bloodshed" had rival candidate Jeong Won-oh won the Seoul mayoral race.

According to the Chosun Ilbo, speaking on YTN Radio's "Jang Seong-cheol's News Myeongdang," Jeong said Oh has been dodging the by-election issue while conservative supporters grow increasingly angry over his silence.

"I'm not asking Mayor Oh to file a lawsuit over the by-election demands," Jeong said. "But can't he at least say what he thinks about them? He keeps avoiding any position on the matter." He added that if Oh wants to become a leading figure in conservative politics, he must respond to his base's calls for a by-election.
