KNS I&C clears Kosdaq preliminary review, raising hopes for new listings
Amid persistent economic uncertainty stemming from tensions in the Middle East, the combined market cap of listed companies in Daejeon edged down in May. According to Daejeon Techno Park, the region's 64 listed firms posted a combined market cap of 74.7312 trillion won (approximately $48.3 billion) as of the end of May — down about 2.6 percent, or 2.0263 trillion won, from 76.7575 trillion won the previous month.
Among individual companies, Hanon Systems recorded the largest gain, with its market cap rising 1.4367 trillion won from the previous month.
Fabtron added 944.3 billion won and Hanall Biopharma gained 788.8 billion won, as some technology firms posted growth. Declines among several large listed companies, however, weighed on the overall total, resulting in a modest pullback.
Despite the short-term market volatility, Daejeon companies continue to pursue stock listings backed by differentiated technology, injecting vitality into the regional economy.
Daejeon-based KNS I&C (CEO Jin Byeong-uk) cleared the preliminary review for a Kosdaq listing on May 7, raising expectations for a new listing.
Founded in 2001, KNS I&C specializes in manufacturing and distributing military and maritime satellite communication antennas (VSAT). The company has developed technology for the Navy's next-generation maritime operational satellite communication system project and has localized submarine-use satellite communication antennas.
Daejeon Techno Park supports promising local firms through IPO programs and investment-linked projects to help them establish a stable footing in the capital markets.
"Even amid significant external volatility, Daejeon companies continue to pursue listings on the strength of their differentiated technology," said Kim Woo-yeon, president of Daejeon Techno Park. "We will work with Daejeon city to systematically identify and nurture companies with listing potential, and provide tailored support so they can settle stably into the capital markets."
