Yeungjin University selected to lead vocational high school-college curriculum linkage program

Yeungjin University announced Wednesday it has been selected for the Ministry of Education's Leading University Support Project for Vocational High School-Junior College Curriculum Linkage.

Under the program, the Daegu-based institution will build an integrated education system connecting regional vocational high schools, junior colleges and industry partners, with a focus on early graduation pathways and employment linkages to develop skilled technical talent for future industries.

The national program integrates a curriculum running from vocational high school through junior college and into corporate employment, aiming to produce practice-ready technical professionals who meet industry demands.

Yeungjin will operate linked curricula in three tracks: AI-integrated mechanical engineering for the smart convergence manufacturing sector, semiconductor and electronics for the intelligent semiconductor process equipment sector, and renewable energy and electrical systems for the power facility maintenance sector.

Through these tracks, the university plans to build close cooperation with regional vocational high schools and companies, and to develop specialized technical talent to drive the region's strategic industries — including semiconductors, AI and digital technology, robotics and next-generation vehicles.

The project will operate as an industry-academia education model in which regional vocational high schools, universities and companies participate together.

Eleven vocational high schools in the Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province area will take part: Gyeongbuk Mechanical Meister High School, Gyeongbuk Drone High School, Gyeongbuk Hi-Tech High School, Daegu Science and Technology High School, Daegu Semiconductor Meister High School, Daegu Il Meister High School, Daegu Hi-Tech High School, Mungyeong Technical High School, Sangju Technical High School, Yeongnam Technical High School and Pohang Heunghae Technical High School.

"We will build an innovative education system that organically connects vocational high schools, universities and companies to develop the talent regional industries need and contribute to boosting youth employment," President Choi Jae-young said.
