Kim Dae-ho reveals he filed an incident report after calling co-anchor's breath smelly on live TV

Kim Dae-ho, a broadcaster and former MBC announcer, has shared the story behind an on-air blunder that landed him in enough trouble to file a formal incident report.

Appearing on SBS's "Ani Geunde Jinjja" on Sunday, Kim opened by explaining the circumstances. "There was no teleprompter because it was a live broadcast," he said. "We only had the agreed-upon script, but sometimes as you go along, you think it would be fun to say something extra."

He then described what happened. "It was the day chicken feet were on the menu. Everyone was saying how delicious it was, and then I said, 'It smells — like feet.' I basically said the other announcer's mouth smelled like feet. On live television." The revelation sent the studio into an uproar.

Fellow guest Tak Jae-hoon suggested it was just meant to be funny, but Kim explained why it went badly. "It wasn't something we had agreed on, so the other announcer was caught off guard, and the announcer who picked it up for the closing was so flustered that the closing practically fell apart," he said. He added that he was subsequently required to submit a written explanation of the incident.

Kim also surprised the other guests by saying his appearance fees had risen 150-fold since going freelance — though he quickly walked it back. "It's not quite 150 times, but I am earning a lot more than when I was a salaried employee," he said.

Kim joined MBC in 2011 as part of its 30th announcer recruitment class and worked across a range of programs. He announced his departure from the network in February last year and made the switch to freelance.
