The Ipam-myeon saemaul leaders' council and saemaul women's association in Yeongyang-gun held a meal-service event for elderly residents on Tuesday, delivering home-cooked food to about 150 households across the area.
About 30 members took part, bringing neighbors a spread that included boiled pork and bibimbap.
Shin Sang-cheol, chairman of the saemaul leaders' council, and Jang Myeong-suk, chairwoman of the saemaul women's association, said the gesture was small but heartfelt. "We hope this brings a little warmth to our neighbors," they said. "We will continue our volunteer work to spread a culture of sharing throughout the community."
Ipam-myeon chief Park Jong-su thanked the saemaul members for their efforts. "I am deeply grateful to the saemaul members of Ipam-myeon, who lead by example in sharing warmth and work to build a community where people can live well," he said.
