Busan education offices to adopt single sign-on system from Tuesday

Logging in to websites run by institutions under the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is about to get a lot simpler.

The Busan Office of Education's Research and Information Institute announced Monday that it will introduce the "Education Digital One Pass" system starting July 1 across websites of elementary, middle and high schools in Busan, the city's integrated education reservation portal, and the homepages of district education support offices and directly affiliated institutions.

The move brings the unified authentication framework built by the Ministry of Education into Busan's broader digital education services, allowing users to access a range of education services with a single account. The city's education office said it expects the change to improve digital service accessibility for students and school staff.

The Education Digital One Pass operates on enrollment and affiliation data registered in NEIS (National Education Information System), an e-government network linking the Ministry of Education, 17 metropolitan and provincial education offices, and all elementary, middle, high and special schools nationwide. Students will be able to use a single ID for multiple education-related services from elementary school enrollment through high school graduation.

The system will apply to websites of schools under the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, the integrated education reservation portal through which users sign up for field trips, experiential activities and teacher training programs, and the homepages of district education support offices and directly affiliated institutions.

"This introduction of the Education Digital One Pass is a step toward enhancing user convenience on top of a stable system foundation," said Yoo Young-ok, director of the Research and Information Institute. "We will continue to build a reliable digital education platform that the school community can use with confidence, and to expand smart education services that students, teachers and families can truly feel the benefit of."
