Kwon Oh-sang takes office as Daegu Seo-gu district mayor, vows to build 'a Seo-gu worth looking forward to'

Kwon Oh-sang was inaugurated as district mayor of Daegu's Seo-gu on Wednesday, formally launching the ninth term of elected district administration.

The ceremony was held at the Seo-gu Culture Center, with about 500 attendees including National Assembly members, city and district council members, and heads of local institutions and organizations.

The event proceeded in a simple but substantive format, moving from the national pledge and oath of office through the inaugural address, a congratulatory video from residents and a celebratory performance.

In his address, Kwon outlined his key priorities: revitalizing the local economy and strengthening urban competitiveness through development around Seo-Daegu Station, building a comprehensive welfare system, and creating a safe and pleasant living environment.

"I will pursue field-oriented, resident-centered administration that puts the lives of district residents first," Kwon said. "I will lead Seo-gu into a new era, grounded in constant communication with residents and trustworthy governance." He added that he would devote all of the district's administrative capacity to "building a Seo-gu that residents look forward to more tomorrow than today — a Seo-gu they can be proud of."
