Gwangjin-gu (district mayor Kim Gyeong-ho) has consolidated its in-person application process for CCTV footage disclosure requests under the Smart Information Division, launching a one-stop service for residents effective Wednesday.
Under the previous system, residents had to submit a request at the district office's integrated civil affairs counter. The application was then forwarded to the CCTV monitoring division for review and deliberation before a decision was issued.
The multi-step handoff between departments caused procedural delays that left many residents waiting longer than necessary for a resolution.
Gwangjin-gu overhauled the process in response to residents' feedback. Starting Wednesday, the Smart Information Division handles the entire process in a single visit — accepting applications, verifying whether nearby CCTV cameras exist, and reviewing and communicating the disclosure decision.
The district said it expects the one-stop service to dramatically cut unnecessary wait times and enable faster responses to urgent CCTV disclosure requests, such as those needed to secure evidence following accidents or incidents, thereby strengthening the protection of residents' rights.
"Streamlining the CCTV disclosure application process is a model example of administrative innovation in public services — one that identifies inconveniences from the resident's perspective and resolves them smartly," district mayor Kim said. "We will continue to pursue field-centered, forward-looking governance that residents can feel in their daily lives, and build a Gwangjin that is a great place to live."
