Suseong University's Syncode team wins excellence award at Daegu inter-university startup competition

Suseong University's Syncode team, made up of students Seo Jeong-min and Lee Seok-hyeon, won the Korean Intellectual Property Office Hi-Pass Award — an excellence prize — at the 2026 Daegu Regional University Alliance Startup Idea Competition, held Tuesday at the Daegu Regional University Cooperation Center.

The competition was organized to uncover local and technology-based startup ideas drawing on regional resources and characteristics, and to strengthen entrepreneurial skills among university students. Nine universities in the Daegu area took part.

A total of 17 teams, each representing their respective university, advanced to the final round, where they delivered business plan presentations. The entries were evaluated through a strict blind judging process based on creativity, business viability and technological merit.

Syncode, Suseong University's representative team, presented an original startup idea combining AI and metaverse technology.

Lee Ji-yeong, director of Suseong University's Business Incubation Center and a member of the university startup support council DRIVE, said the result was deeply meaningful. "The students' creative ideas and bold ambition have translated into a great outcome," she said. "We will continue to provide full support for fostering student entrepreneurship and the sustained growth of the local startup ecosystem."
