Coway invites AI video ad creators to compete for W20m purse

Coway is calling on outside creators to produce AI-generated video ads and short-form content for its Berex sleep and wellness product line, with plans to incorporate winning entries into brand campaigns.

The company announced Monday that its Berex brand will hold an "AI Video Ad and Short-Form Contest," accepting submissions through July 30. Anyone aged 14 or older who can produce video using generative AI is eligible to enter.

The contest is co-organized by Coway, AI media-tech firm Studio Freewillusion and AI content platform AI-Kive. Participants may submit their work through the AI-Kive official website in the specified format and dimensions.

The two featured products are the Berex flagship "R7 Stretching Motion Bed" and the "Pebble Chair 2" massage chair. Entries for the R7 Stretching Motion Bed category should intuitively convey the bed's sleep technology, which combines motion functions with personalized lumbar-stretching features. The Pebble Chair 2 category focuses on creatively expressing the product's silhouette, six-color lineup and harmony with interior spaces.

Submissions are accepted in two formats: landscape AI video ads and vertical AI short-form clips. Video ads must run 30 seconds, while short-form entries must be between 10 seconds and one minute. All videos must be produced using generative AI and must include a disclosure stating they were AI-generated. Participants may submit up to four entries — one per product theme and format combination.

The total purse is 20 million won ($13,000). The overall grand prize winner receives 10 million won, while four category excellence awards carry 2 million won each and four merit awards carry 500,000 won each. Final winners will be selected based on a jury evaluation weighted at 80 percent and audience voting at 20 percent.

"We hope this contest will allow the value of rest that Berex offers to be expressed from a fresh perspective through AI technology," a Coway official said. "We look forward to the interest and participation of talented creators."
