The Chosun University School Foundation announced Monday that its 5th board of directors has been inaugurated, beginning a three-year term.
At the 8th board meeting held Sunday in the corporate conference room on the second floor of the Chosun University main building, director An Byung-wook was elected chair with all nine directors and two auditors present.
An, the newly elected chair, is a native of Hwasun, South Jeolla Province, and served as a professor of Korean history at Catholic University of Korea. He previously served as founding president of the Korean History Research Association, chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and 18th president of the Academy of Korean Studies, establishing him as one of the country's leading historians.
Three new directors were appointed to the 5th board of the Chosun University Foundation: Ko Gil-seok, director of Gwangju Central Hospital; Kim Gyu-tak, chair of Jangheung Woori Hospital; and Kim Seong-jae, emeritus professor at Chosun University.
Five directors were reappointed: Kim Seon-a, emeritus professor at Chosun University; Shin Yun-suk, emeritus professor at Chonnam National University; Lee Geun-woo, attorney at law firm Rocom; Park Mi-gyeong, co-chair of the Gwangju Environmental Movement Alliance; and Jeong Chae-ung, attorney at Cheonji Joint Law Office.
"Building on our proud 80-year history, I will do my utmost to unite with the 5th board and all members as we press forward boldly toward a new century," An said.
