Yeongyang-gun council opens, elects Hong Jeom-pyo as speaker for first half of term

The Yeongyang-gun Council in North Gyeongsang Province held its inaugural ceremony Monday, electing Hong Jeom-pyo as speaker and Shin Seung-bae as deputy speaker for the first half of the 10th council term.

In his acceptance remarks, newly elected Speaker Hong said he would make "communication and harmony" the top priorities of his tenure. "I will build a rational council that looks only to the people of this county, transcending affiliation and political faction," he said, adding that he would "provide wholehearted support from the ground up so that council members can focus fully on their legislative activities."

Meanwhile, the Yeongyang-gun Council will hold its 314th extraordinary session on July 28 to hear county administration reports and deliberate on key agenda items, formally beginning its legislative work.
