Daegu Health College hosts digital healthcare innovation cluster symposium

Daegu Health College held the Digital Healthcare Innovation Cluster Symposium on July 3 at Seminar Room 2 in the East Hall of EXCO in Daegu, sharing results of its wide-area corporate support efforts built around the DOM (Dental, Optical and Medical) Complex initiative.

The symposium was organized as part of Daegu's regional growth talent development program — known as the Anchor project — to strengthen industry-academia-research-government-hospital cooperation through the establishment of a digital healthcare innovation cluster and to explore ways to support innovative growth among local companies.

The DOM Complex, which the college is developing, centers on the region's specialized health and medical industries — dental, optical, and rehabilitation and medical device sectors — and aims to build health-tech specialized centers that link education with corporate support.

About 80 people attended the symposium, including Kim Ji-in, vice president for external affairs, other college officials, Lee Jae-dal, head of the university policy division at the Daegu city government, and representatives from related institutions and local companies.

The event featured presentations on the direction of digital healthcare industry development and Daegu city policy, followed by case studies of outstanding corporate support efforts from the Dalbit Glocal Health Alliance universities — Daegu Health College, Gwangju Health University and Daejeon Health Institute of Technology.

Attendees shared the results of technology development and commercialization projects carried out jointly by the universities and companies, and discussed the future direction of the wide-area industry-academia cooperation model.

"This symposium was a meaningful occasion to look together at the changes and future of the digital healthcare industry and to discuss sustainable cooperation among industry, academia, research institutions, government and hospitals," said Kim, who also serves as a professor in the nursing department.
