Keimyung University announced Monday that Kim Gwang-hyeop, a professor in its advertising and public relations department, received the newly established Advisor of the Year award at the 2026 Korea University Student Advertising Competition.

Known by its acronym KOSAC, the competition is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Advertising Federation. It is considered the most prestigious university-level advertising contest in the country, drawing roughly 15,000 students and more than 700 faculty advisors each year.

This year's competition, sponsored by Samsung Fire, was held under the theme "Adding insurance to the daily lives of the 2030 generation." A total of 1,425 entries were submitted from 142 universities nationwide.

Students advised by Kim swept 10 awards at the competition — one honorable mention and nine KOSAC Challenger prizes — the highest total of any university in the Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province region.

The honorable mention, awarded to roughly the top 5 percent of all entries, went to a team called "Sukjugasesangeulgujajo," made up of students Kang Ji-yeon, Kim Su-a, Shin A-yeong, Park Ji-won and Choi Jeong-su.

The team presented a creative campaign under the theme "The one insurance gift that will stand by your side on doomsday." Nine other Keimyung teams also claimed KOSAC Challenger awards, given to roughly the top 15 percent of entries.

"The students' tireless effort produced results that earned the most awards of any university in the country," Kim said. "The active support of the immersive media business unit played a major role in strengthening students' practical skills."
