National Nakdong River Biological Resources Center opens Eum Center complex

The National Nakdong River Biological Resources Center officially opened a new multipurpose cultural facility called the Eum Center, designed to serve both visitors and local residents, it announced Monday.

The name "Eum," meaning connection, reflects the facility's mission to bridge people with one another, living organisms with people, and the local community with the center itself.

The Eum Center was designed to improve visitor convenience and maximize use of available space.

Amenities include a restaurant, cafe and convenience store, as well as a play area for infants and toddlers and an open stepped lounge called the "Community Step" — giving families with young children and other visitors a comfortable space to dine, rest and enjoy leisure activities.

The center will also offer rentable event spaces, including a conference hall accommodating more than 130 people and a multipurpose meeting room. Both will be open to local businesses and organizations for seminars, workshops, small-group gatherings and other events.

"Through the Eum Center, we will work to raise awareness of the value of biological resources and the importance of the environment, and become a public institution that communicates closely with the local community and grows together with it," center director Yong Seok-won said.
