LG AI Research Lab and Koscom are joining forces to develop a generative AI-powered prediction and analysis service for the Korean stock market. The two companies plan to combine domestic financial data with AI forecasting technology to launch a financial AI service supporting investment decision-making in both domestic and international markets.
The two companies signed a "strategic MOU for the provision of AI-based Korean financial data analysis services" at Koscom's headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, on Tuesday.
Under the agreement, they will integrate Koscom's domestic stock trading data, corporate disclosures and macroeconomic indicators into LG AI Research Lab's finance-focused AI, EXAONE Business Intelligence (EXAONE BI), to build an AI prediction and analysis service tailored to the Korean stock market.
EXAONE BI is a finance-specialized AI in which multiple AI agents collaborate to perform data analysis, reasoning, forecasting and explanation generation. Built on this platform, the AI-Powered Equity Forecast Score (AEFS) provides a predicted score for individual stocks' share price movements over the following four weeks, along with AI-generated commentary explaining the reasoning behind each forecast.
A key feature of the service is its "explainability" — the AI does not simply predict share price movements but also presents the reasoning behind each forecast. AEFS analyzes roughly 8,000 stocks listed on Korean and US exchanges every day, delivering per-stock prediction scores alongside expert-level analytical commentary. By surfacing the basis on which the AI reached its conclusions, the service aims to support data-driven investment decisions for both institutional and retail investors.
Koscom will supply the financial data needed to analyze the Korean stock market — including domestic trading data, corporate disclosures and macroeconomic indicators — while LG AI Research Lab will use that input to optimize EXAONE BI's time-series forecasting and data analysis capabilities for the Korean market.
The two companies plan to expand the service to institutional investors and financial firms at home and abroad, with Koscom leveraging its domestic customer base and LG AI Research Lab drawing on the global distribution network it built with the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG). LG AI Research Lab developed AEFS together with LSEG in September last year.
To minimize AI hallucinations that can arise during the analysis process, LG AI Research Lab will continuously evaluate the fidelity of the scoring rationale and commentary to maintain service quality.
"In the stock market, the ability to explain why the AI arrived at a particular result is just as important as the accuracy of the prediction itself," said Im Woo-hyung, co-director of LG AI Research Lab. "We will provide reliable information to institutional and retail investors at home and abroad, and contribute to AI service innovation in the financial sector."
Koscom President Yoon Chang-hyun said the company would "deliver differentiated financial information services by combining Koscom's financial data capabilities with LG AI Research Lab's technology, and lead the AI transformation of financial markets by rolling out a range of products starting with this service."
Meanwhile, Koo Kwang-mo, chief executive of LG Group, said in his New Year's address this year that the company "must leap forward with new innovation, going beyond the success formulas of the past, because the technology paradigm and the rules of competition are changing while customer expectations continue to rise." He added that "innovation means not only improving customers' lives today, but creating the value that future customers will need."
