A man in his 60s is under police investigation after running a red light and killing a 9-year-old child in Seoul.
The Seoul Gangdong Police Station said Tuesday it booked the man, identified only as A, on charges of causing death under the Act on Special Cases Concerning Traffic Accidents on Monday.
A is accused of striking a 9-year-old elementary school student who was crossing a crosswalk on a bicycle in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, at around 8:50 p.m. Sunday. The child was rushed to a hospital but died.
Police found no signs that A had been driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Investigators believe he ran a red light and are looking into the exact circumstances of the accident.
