Korea Digital Asset Custody (KDAC) announced Wednesday that it has relocated its headquarters to the Posco Tower Samsung building near Samsung Station in Seoul's Gangnam district.

As part of the move, KDAC built an air-gap room to the fireproof vault specifications used by the Bank of Korea and commercial banks. The company said adopting financial-sector vault standards significantly strengthens the safety of asset storage and management.

The air-gap room is equipped with metal detectors, a fire alarm system, motion sensors and CCTV cameras alongside the vault itself. On the security side, KDAC introduced a four-layer access control process — including dual air-gap entry security — as well as hardware security module (HSM) equipment for cold wallet key management.

"This headquarters relocation is an investment to raise our standards of stability and security as a digital asset custodian to the next level," CEO Jo Seong-il said. "We will protect customer assets more safely through a storage environment and multilayered security framework on par with the banking sector."

Meanwhile, KDAC was recently selected as the operator for the National Tax Service's project to entrust the custody and management of seized virtual assets. Having completed the entrustment agreement, KDAC plans to establish an operational model for the full project through the introduction and pilot operation of a private custody management system.
