Samyang Group announced Monday the launch of SAMI 2.0, an in-house AI portal developed exclusively for its employees.
SAMI 2.0 is an upgraded version of SAMI 1.0, the company's proprietary generative AI service for staff. Through the new platform, employees at all domestic and overseas worksites can upload work files to their personal AI database, train the AI on that material and build a customized AI tool optimized for their specific role.
To develop SAMI 2.0, Samyang Group ran an internal AI competition over 100 days involving about 80 employees, tasking them with identifying AI use cases across the organization. The exercise yielded 13 AI modules covering repetitive tasks and functions common to a range of job types. Using these modules, employees can quickly handle tasks such as regulatory analysis, supplier orders, raw materials receiving and voucher review — without issuing individual commands to the AI each time.
SAMI 2.0 is designed to give employees a single view of personal schedules and email, work file searches, division-level summaries and tailored news digests, and key economic indicators and raw materials price trends. It also draws on internal databases to deliver historical earnings analysis and forward-looking business environment forecasts by division.
Chairman Kim Yoon has stressed the urgency of deeper AI adoption. "AI has already permeated every corner of our daily lives, so in our work as well, we must go beyond simply using AI tools and apply AI across all operations to raise productivity," he said.
Samyang Group plans to expand AI output beyond text to include images, reports and other formats as it builds out its technical capabilities. The company's ultimate goal is to construct, by 2030, an AI system in which interconnected AI agents can think independently and deliver optimized recommendations and decisions for each situation.
Oh Seung-hun, chief executive of Samyang Data System, who led development of the portal, said SAMI 2.0 was designed to go beyond simple information delivery and maximize employee work efficiency. "This will also give further momentum to the AI transformation the group is pursuing," he added.
