Yeungnam University of Science and Technology achieves global tech exchange through Singapore mobility capstone program

Yeungnam University of Science and Technology successfully ran its "2026 Singapore Global Mobility Capstone Design Program" in Singapore from July 6 to 11, training future mobility specialists equipped to navigate the global industrial landscape.

The program was carried out as part of a regional talent development initiative known as the Anchor project.

A total of 17 students — second-year students from the Smart Convergence Mechanical Engineering program and third- and fourth-year students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering — took part under the guidance of professor Jang Un-geun.

Drawing on capstone design projects completed during the semester, the students shared their work with peers at leading Singapore engineering universities and gained firsthand exposure to world-class smart manufacturing facilities and the mobility industry, sharpening their practical global skills.

During the program, participants visited major industrial, educational and research institutions in Singapore to observe the direction of future mobility and smart manufacturing firsthand.

They also held technology exchange sessions with the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Singapore Polytechnic, the country's top vocational education institution, and with the Nanyang Adventure Formula Team, a mobility design team at Nanyang Technological University, one of Asia's leading engineering universities.

"This was an opportunity for students to develop a mutual understanding of Singapore's strengths in aviation mobility and the automotive mobility sector rooted in the Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province region, and to expand their specialized knowledge into global practical skills through the FSAE Formula Car Program, an international engineering education initiative," said Jang, a professor in the Smart Convergence Mechanical Engineering program.
