Daegu Haany University held the 2026 Daegu-North Gyeongsang University Lifelong Education Institution Council general assembly and summer seminar at Building 9 of its Samsung Campus on Wednesday.
Representatives from the lifelong education centers of major regional universities attended, including those from Keimyung University, Daegu Catholic University, Daegu University, Dongguk University, Gumi University and Daegu Science University, alongside Daegu Haany University.
The event proceeded through the 2026 general assembly, an invited lecture and an inter-university exchange forum. Participants shared strategies on the role of university-based lifelong education and regional innovation in response to a shrinking school-age population, the transition to a super-aged society, and the spread of AI and digital transformation.
An open discussion followed, with participants examining ways to build a sustainable regional lifelong education ecosystem — including developing locally tailored lifelong vocational education models, expanding AI- and digitally-based lifelong education programs, and sharing educational resources across universities.
Kwon Ki-chan, chair of the Daegu-North Gyeongsang University Lifelong Education Institution Council, said the council would pursue joint projects linked to the Regional Innovation System & Education framework and develop a regional innovation model grounded in lifelong education, aiming to chart a new direction for lifelong education across South Korea.
