Land Ministry convenes aviation safety forum with industry, academia and research sectors

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will hold a joint public-private Aviation Safety Seminar and Forum in Incheon over two days beginning Wednesday, the ministry announced. The event aims to share the latest aviation safety policies and technology trends in response to a rapidly changing aviation environment, and to promote a culture of safety and strengthen aviation safety capabilities.

Held under the theme "People, Culture and a New Paradigm for Aviation Safety — Together," the forum will bring together domestic and international aviation experts to discuss the future direction of aviation safety policy and ways to enhance public-private cooperation.

On the first day, a high-level forum on aviation safety leadership in an era of rapid industry change will bring together senior officials and CEOs from major public and private organizations to deliver an "Aviation Safety Leadership Message."

Domestic and international experts will then present on just culture, safety reporting and organizational resilience under the theme "An Organization That Can Speak Up, a Culture That Learns Together," followed by discussions on "Safety Intelligence" applicable in the age of digital transformation.

Safety Intelligence refers to a system that collects, integrates and analyzes diverse safety data to identify hazards and support aviation safety decision-making.

The second day will feature expert presentations and discussions on competency-based pilot training and evaluation, career management systems for aviation personnel, AI-based predictive maintenance, and collaborative responses to complex environmental changes including drone threats.

Jeong Chae-gyo, director general of aviation policy at the ministry, said aviation safety "will only be fully realized when technology is combined with people, culture, and the sharing and cooperation of safety data." He added that he hopes the event will serve as "a leading platform for dialogue where the public and private sectors work together to chart the future direction of aviation safety."
