Samsung C&T expands smart residential services in tie-up with HJ Shipbuilding & Construction

Samsung C&T's construction division signed an MOU with HJ Shipbuilding & Construction's construction division on Tuesday to expand its home platform "Homenik" into a new joint service called "Haemoro by Homenik," the company announced Wednesday. The agreement is part of Samsung C&T's broader push to expand its smart residential services.

The signing ceremony on Tuesday was attended by Kim Myeong-seok, executive vice president and head of Samsung C&T's housing product marketing division, and Hwang Eui-ha, executive vice president and head of HJ Shipbuilding & Construction's architectural business division, along with other key officials.

Haemoro by Homenik will offer residents of eligible new Haemoro-branded apartment complexes — HJ Shipbuilding & Construction's residential brand — six services: home Internet of Things (IoT) controls, community facility reservations, a lifestyle support center with building notices and maintenance fee inquiries, vehicle management including parking location tracking and visitor vehicle reservations, energy management, and everyday convenience services.

HJ Shipbuilding & Construction has built a portfolio of high-end residential facilities at key locations across the country, drawing on its accumulated construction experience and technology in the building and housing sectors. The company has strengthened its position in the housing market through its Haemoro brand, which brings together its distinctive spatial design and construction capabilities. With the introduction of the smart home platform, the company aims to sharpen its competitive edge in smart residential technology as it pursues large-scale redevelopment projects and public and private housing contracts.

HJ Shipbuilding & Construction plans to continue technology cooperation with Samsung C&T's Homenik platform on a range of smart residential solutions, including an AI parking service, an integrated energy remote monitoring system and inter-floor noise reduction.

Kim, Samsung C&T's housing product marketing division head, said the company would "contribute to HJ Shipbuilding & Construction's creation of premium living spaces by providing residents with the Haemoro by Homenik service."

Hwang, HJ Shipbuilding & Construction's architectural business division head, said the MOU "created an opportunity to offer a higher level of smart residential services tailored to the characteristics of each project site." He added that the company would "continue to collaborate and innovate to realize stable residential value in line with evolving housing trends and a premium lifestyle."

Homenik is currently deployed not only in Samsung C&T's Raemian complexes but also in apartments built under other brands, including SK Ecoplant, Hanwha, Doosan Engineering & Construction, HS Hwaseong, Woomi Construction and Hoban Construction, as the platform continues to expand its home service ecosystem.
