Daegu city officials have launched an emergency safety review following a swimming accident at Sangseong Falls on Biseulsan in Dalseong-gun.
According to the Daegu Fire and Safety Headquarters, a report came in at around 1:46 p.m. Thursday that a 15-year-old boy had fallen into the water while swimming with three friends at Sangseong Falls in Yuga-eup, Dalseong-gun.
Fire authorities dispatched 34 personnel and nine pieces of equipment to carry out the rescue.
After receiving emergency treatment including CPR at the scene, the boy was transferred unconscious to a university hospital, where he is receiving treatment.
Access to the accident site has since been restricted.
In response, Daegu Mayor Choo Kyung-ho ordered officials to quickly determine the circumstances of the accident and draw up safety management measures for swimming at valleys and streams.
